3 tips when cleaning car seats

Blog

Car seats are parts of a car that come into contact with its passengers the most. So, it’s not surprising if car seats can get dirty easily. When they are dirty, it will not only spoil the aesthetics of your car interior, but it will also make you and other passengers feel uncomfortable. So, it’s always a good idea to keep your car seats clean all the time by knowing how to clean car seats and implementing the knowledge. But before you start the job, here are 3 tips when cleaning car seats that can help you finish it faster and more efficiently.

Use a proper car upholstery cleaner

Many people wonder how to clean car seats, but it’s not that hard. The first tip you can use when cleaning car seats is to use a proper car upholstery cleaner. This is very important because if you use a random cleaning solution, you might end up damaging the fabrics or leather of the seats which can cost you so much to repair or replace it. You can find a proper car upholstery cleaner in a store that sells cleaning products online or offline. However, you also have to read the user’s manual of the cleaning product thoroughly to make sure that it’s safe for the material of your car upholstery although it’s safe in most cases because it’s specifically made for the purpose. To apply the car upholstery cleaner, you can just spray it onto the seats you want to clean and scrub gently with a soft brush.

Vacuum the seats before cleaning them

The second tip you can use when cleaning car seats is to vacuum them before cleaning. This means that before you apply the car upholstery cleaner solution, you have to vacuum the seats first. That way, there will be no debris and dust sticking to the seats when you start cleaning them with the cleaner solution. Make sure that you vacuum to the corners and tight spaces such as seams, crevices, and between seat cushions because those are where dust and debris tend to accumulate. This action is intended to prevent yourself from rubbing grime, which will not only make the cleaning harder, but may also damage the seat upholstery.

Blot stains immediately

The last tip you can use when cleaning car seats is to blot stains immediately. This means that when you spill something to the seats, you have to blot the stains immediately using a paper towel or a clean cloth to absorb the liquid. That way, the stains will not become bigger and harder to clean. Then, after the liquid has been absorbed, you can start applying a small amount of the cleaner and scrub the stained area gently. Just like other cleaning activities, immediate action will save you from the trouble of having to perform deep cleaning in the future.
