Easily Forgotten Areas of a Home to Clean

Cleaning the inside of dishwashers

If you’re like me and find any accumulation of dust and dirt disgusting, there are plenty of areas that collect grime and could use periodic cleaning.

Maybe not as common as our main areas, but once in awhile, we need reminders that there are out of mind parts of our home that need cleaning too. The fact is, during writing of this article, I reminded myself of a few areas that could use some attention.

Additional areas to clean beyond the norm…

  • Baseboard Ledges – Dust accumulation
  • Behind large furniture – If needing to move furniture, slides for either hard surface or carpet work great.
  • Utility Closet Floor – This is one of those areas that may be small and mostly covered with a sink and cleaning tools, so we don’t pay much attention to the dust and grime collecting underneath everything.
  • Panel Door Ledges and Tops of Doors – If you have doors with a panel design, dust will accumulate on the bottom of each panel ledge.
  • Door Moldings / Trim (tops) – Dust accumulation
  • Cabinet Tops – Kitchen cabinets will accumulate grease and dust over time, creating a grimy mess.
  • Curtain Rod (tops) – Dust accumulation. Also kitchen area can get a greasy buildup.
  • Bath Fan Vent Covers – Dust accumulation

  • Bottom of Cabinets –  (a) under lower interior roll-outs – remove roll-out to clean, (b) under bottom most drawer – remove drawer to clean.
  • Plants – You can buy spray cleaner for artificial plants at any hobby store.
  • Outlet Cover Ledge (top) – Dust accumulation
  • Ceiling Fan (top) – Dust accumulation. Also kitchen area can get a greasy buildup.
  • Picture Frame Ledges – Dust accumulation
  • Electronic Air Vents (TV, computer, etc.) – Dust accumulation
  • Light Fixtures (pendant, lamps, sconces) – Dust accumulation
  • Washing Machine – Plus dispenser trays and door cavities.
  • Dryer
  • Dishwasher – Inside of door and the seals were the door meets the dishwasher body.
  • Behind & Under Stoves
  • Behind & Under Refrigerators
